      - An opportunity that you would not be able to experience anywhere else - Comparably competitive pay - Location placement is random, but overall I would say this is a good point, as it allows you to experience parts of Japan (and Japanese culture) you would not be able to otherwise.

      Cons

      - While pay is competitive, it does not feel like much compared to what you could be making in other countries.

      Pros

      JETs have support from CLAIR , their Board of Education, and local AJET chapters. CLAIR provides training, orientations, and even funding for teaching certifications.

      Cons

      Some ALTs co-teach actively and feel valued; others get stuck reading from a script. Your school, co-workers, and Board of Education make a big difference.
