Bad Company - Cutter JBS Foods Employee Review

Worst place I have ever worked at. They run an average of 240 sides of beef (half a cow) an hour. Meaning if you have a 6 person team, you each must cut 40 large and heavy pieces an hour. Divide that into 60 minutes and you need to cut a piece in 90 seconds. That's the large pieces. Team sizes differ. If you're handling a smaller piece your team can be just two people. Meaning you have to trim 120 pieces an hour or one every 25 seconds. And there is no room for error. Not too much over trim, not too much under, can't miss any pieces going down the conveyer. Because the whole system moves when the scale operator at the front gets back from break, you need to cut your break early, which was already cut early because of the time it takes to take off your equipment and walk to the breakroom and clean off the blood. So you get about a 5 minute break which is almost enough time to crap. Forget having a drink of water there's no time for that. You might get time on your 30 minute, I mean 17, minute break. Now, if you get a work related injury you will be let go for performance reasons since firing on HIPPA reasons is a no no and JBS knows that. If you get sick, you are expected to work and possibly contaminate the food or you will be fired. I didn't start until after covid but I now understand why JBS was the leading cause in Cache Valley for contracting Covid and sent beef across the world as they are the number one beef producer. They pick favorites. New people are chosen daily to do the work no one wants to do, are forced to sign a sheet saying they are ok doing a higher paying job without receiving higher pay. While working there I made friends with numerous veterans that told me to not mention my trigger finger I got from working there. They had it but knew if they said something they would he fired. Others have carpal tunnel. I saw a side of beef push someone out of the way as it was falling due to an old chain. The employee was shoved by 2000 lbs of beef and bone and almost died. He was not checked on. The supervisor nearby helped him to his feet and pointed for him to get back in line and keep working instead of taking him to the nurse (that most likely would not have done anything except bluff some concern verbally). I used to wonder why their turn over rate was so high, I now know.
