Pros

Smart, insightful, start up culture. Excellent team and management. Company product (media publication) was outstanding in both editorial and aesthetics areas.

Cons

Isolation of working remotely. Some of my particular work was monotonous. I occasionally felt the company was less agile in it's decision making process than it should have been, considering it's small size.

Pros

Flexibility to work from home, pays well for feature stories, ability to build portfolio

Cons

It takes FOREVER to get a paid from these people!! Don't get me wrong, you will get paid, but it will take 3 to 4 months. If you can go that long without a check, than this is the job for you. Editors get paid anywhere between $30-40 per article and must meet weekly deadlines, conduct interviews in person and over the phone (which takes time) write content, upload content and photos in CMS and attend city/town hall meetings, chamber events, etc. Once you figure in the time it took to find a relevant story, track down a source, coordinate an interview, write the piece, upload it into CMS with links and all the fields required to upload the story, including photos, you are better off getting a job at a fast-food restaurant. If you can land a feature story, those pay much better but are harder to come by because IMG hires freelance workers to just write feature stories, leaving editors out in the cold.
