Pros

Starting salary was very good. Worked with some good people. Learned some things I still use today in my current job. Threw a pretty good manager's meeting with good food and drink.

Cons

Where to start? Was given no support or training upon my hire. Sent to a property in transition and given the keys. No one from corporate on site to show/teach me how the Island way needs to be done. And after seeing how the Island way needs to be done, someone should have definitely been there to walk me through it. Hotel was in bad shape. Needed a lot of items. Was told to take inventory and submit orders for approval. Orders denied, told to deal with it. Purchase monthly to replenish the hotel but stay within budget. Unrealistic to try to bring PAR levels up while keeping within monthly budgets meant only to maintain current PAR levels. Micromanagement!!! Claim they don't do it. They are the epitome of micromanaging. They don't want people, they want warm bodies to sit in your chair and do what they say. Don't think for yourself, they will tell you how to think. Corporate preaches they are there to support you. Except for a few good ones, most are as elusive as the Loch Ness Monster. Call them, email them, send carrier pigeon!!! Nothing. Deal with it, get yelled at for dealing with it later. The upper executives are the worst. Rude and crude. Was treated and talked to like never before. Not even my parents tore me a new butt like some of the executives in this company. If I didn't like it, quit. Way to motivate your team. Through fear and intimidation. They break you down so they can build you up in the Island fashion. The good reviews you read on here are either by corporate executives themselves or by employees that have been beaten into submission. Internal Audit. Holy cow!!! How does anyone get any work done around this hotel when they are so busy making sure they are adhering to the Internal Audit procedures. More reports and paperwork at this job then in my entire career combined. Impossible to do the other aspects of your job like covering in other departments because you are not budgeted to have the correct number of people on staff. No loyalty to their employees. I wasn't there long enough to have an issue personally but I did witness them kick to the curb people that spent years with the company. Unless you're in the Good Ole Boys club you should fear for job daily as one mistake, your fault or not, and you could be on your way. Oh yeah, if you're a hot chick and they like to look at you or think they have a chance to sleep with you, you can apparently get away with anything. So if you're hot chick, disregard everything I just said. I'm a guy so I didn't benefit from this luxury. And the salary was good, but it wasn't that good!!!
