Pros

Iress is a fabulous place to work. The fact that people have come on Glassdoor and bagged it out is utterly false! After coming from a background in Financial Services, I have never worked in a more relaxed, easy-going environment. I feel like mistakes are not condemned, and instead used as learning opportunities, which is often echoded by workplaces, but at Iress it feels more genuine. Some of my favourite things about Iress: - Flexible working arrangements. With the option to WFH two days per week, any of my preferred days. Also the ability to arrive/leave work when it suits me (as long as I work the promised 7.5 hour day, which again is flexible). - 8 days of additional long-weekend days of leave per year. - Above average pay - Regular Volunteering days, offering a nice way to break up a week and give back to the community. - 4pm drinks on a Thursday that everyone gets around. - Occasional travel to conferences - A beautiful Sydney office, with great end-of-trip facilities.

Cons

While Iress is a great place to work, there are a few drawbacks. The company has just undergone a significant transformation. As a result, redundancies, premature promotions, and new hires have occurred. Everyone has an option, and you occasionally hear a 'so and so shouldn't be in that postion', or 'They got rid of X who had signifcant expertise in area A'. This leads to a distrust in management and the senior leadership team. However, changes due to the recent transformation have settled down recently, and I expect this atmosphere to reduce as the company finds its feet again.

Thank you for highlighting the flexible and supportive culture we have at Iress. Our hybrid working arrangements (three days in the office and two days from wherever you choose) is part of our flexible approach to how/where we work. This, alongside the eight long weekend days, help us all achieve the right balance between work and personal commitments. We know these are highly valued by everyone. The transformation was difficult and some great people who were colleagues and friends did leave the business. However, the transformation is now behind us and we are excited for the future.

Pros

People, Good central office (Melbourne) Staff benefits are ok

Cons

Engineering management is a let down - poor behaviours, micromanagement, lack of trust - the list can go on. Seems to get swept under the carpet or ignored so patterns continue to fester and have for years.
