Pros

I'd encourage those willing and ready to work in a heavily unstructured environment to educate themselves on whether a startup is the right opportunity for you. IMS definitely offers the chance for ambitious people to step up to the plate and earn their keep. It has been a humbling experience and reminder to trust your instincts. The culture is very relaxed and encourages freedom of thought and expression; however, this freedom can be easily abused across communication channels here. Direct access to the executive team was incredible, different and appreciated. The flat org chart was a refreshing change from the traditional top-down org chart, however, IMS will continue to struggle with this as it expands due their unreadiness to mentor new hires. Lots of meal perks and other various bonuses. Inspiring encouragement is heavily verbalized here.

Cons

There is plenty of talk about transparency across the flat org chart, change management, process improvement and scalability, however, I did not consistently observe this. All of my colleagues were incredibly busy and had no time to effectively engage in any of this, much less, mentor new hires effectively. Unless the new hire literally went out of his/her way to stop colleagues and asked for answers, the advertised learning environment was not present. I was literally informed "we're too busy to ask you what you don't know" which did not sit well with me from my fifth day onward. How does a new hire even know what to ask or how to ask questions in an eloquent or intelligent manner when they've not been given the adequate training/tools to be successful? Food for thought. I can say that IMS is not a good fit for those coming from structured environments where there are fully formed onboarding curriculums in place to ensure a new hire's success in the industry. A 90-day ramp up expectation was encouraged here, so I was mislead in thinking I had time to ramp up and demonstrate my abilities. I directly and plainly expressed my desire for complete transparency on my performance with management and senior colleagues on multiple occasions, all of whom expressed positive progress given my non-finance/non-accounting background. I was repeatedly assured my learning curve is to be expected and was encouraged to slow down rather than try to ramp up with my colleagues who do have a finance/acct background. The consistent misleading feedback was not constructive to my actual performance output and did not provide me with the growth opportunity talked about here. Based on my whole experience here, I have been reminded to trust my instincts and be wary of a culture that over-promises and under-delivers. The last day was heavily disjointed and led me to lose a great deal of respect for my direct management team's unwillingness to step up and be thorough.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. This type of candid feedback is how we will continue to grow as teammates, leaders, and overall as an organization. I’d like to acknowledge the fact that onboarding and training for new hires requires better focus as we grow out of our start-up phase; this is an important part of our team goals for early 2019. IMS will remain a fast-paced, growth-stage company where innovation and risk-taking are encouraged. We recognize that may not be a fit for everyone; however, we will continue to focus on improving our interview and onboarding processes. We wish you all the best and truly appreciate the constructive feedback.

Pros

Incredibly smart and technical people that have a passion for FinTech and CRE. This place will breed you into a lethal salesperson if you put in the work and learn the industry. The leadership is incredible, with the CEO , and CRO working in the offices right next to the sales floor. You can really tell they are investing in you personally and professionally. Also, the compensation is very appealing.

Cons

his is a startup, so do your own due diligence and make sure you can handle it. The leadership usually does a great job of weeding out these people out early in the interview process.

Pros

I would say that from the beginning, I have seen IMS is willing to invest in it's employees, which coming from a background of being just a number in a huge company, says a lot. They give you a lot of the tools you need to be successful. So many people are willing to be used as resources for you to lean on to help accomplish a task. Also, very transparent company. Many times, the CEO and CRO have given us insight to the company that I wouldn't have even thought to ask but appreciate nonetheless.

Cons

With it being a start up, there's not a lot of hand holding. You definitely have to be the type to figure it out along the way. It seems as if they're looking more for sales professionals who want to sell in our industry, instead of having a training curriculum that you can take anywhere. Basically, they want rock stars that can just plug-and-play. Which is not a bad thing but definitely leaves people who need a little more coaching/encouragement in the cold.
