Pros

Senior AI leadership was a strength. The work was interesting, the projects were meaningful, and analysts were given room to experiment with AI systems, automation, and internal tooling. Leadership appeared to understand the strategic value of AI and created opportunities for analysts to build.

Cons

My experience with the AI analyst team was substantially worse. The team was largely early-career, and the culture was insular, political, and weak at direct communication. Concerns that could have been addressed through ordinary professional feedback were instead discussed among coworkers and escalated through management channels without first being raised with the person involved. In practice, informal alliances and interpersonal perception appeared to carry more weight than transparent feedback or demonstrated work. I also observed frequent private criticism of management, compensation, coworkers, and hiring decisions from people who remained outwardly cordial with the same individuals they criticized. That made it difficult to distinguish genuine professional relationships from surface-level ones. The team’s technical maturity was uneven. Some analysts were capable and thoughtful, but I also saw credentialism, textbook reasoning, and confidence that exceeded practical experience. Employees entering this team should not assume that coworkers will communicate concerns directly, represent them fairly when absent, or evaluate disagreements strictly on the merits of the work. Prospective employees should separate the AI opportunity from the analyst team culture. The work can be interesting, and senior leadership can provide real opportunity, but this is not a team I would enter casually. Document important interactions, ask for feedback directly, keep boundaries clear, and do not assume silence means alignment. In this environment, concerns may matter most when they are not being raised to you directly. I would consider working for the right leader at Internet Brands again. I would not work with this analyst team again. The pattern was too much backchanneling, too little candor, and too many people acting differently in private than they did in public.
