Pros
If you want to learn something just by your own interest, it is good, as there are a lot of areas where people do not know what is going on. Work life balance is good
Cons
Promotion is only dependent if you know somebody very well. You will not get promoted even if you show solid performance for years. Demotivating because you will find new positions created, and people who do not perform as well getting promoted quickly, just because they know somebody.
