Pros

Should anyone of asked me this 4 years ago I could have spoke volumes about why I loved this place. The environment, the management, the companies vision, but that all changed and not for the good. The only thing that I could say is a pro is the other employees, but the turnover is so high now it is hard to say what you are going to get.

Cons

The environment at Intermax is unnecessarily stressful because most of the management there has no clue what work needs to be done and what it takes to accomplish that work. They do not understand safety and often ask to do things that are either unsafe of flat out illegal. This is not an exaggeration. I can provide several examples. The vice president has anger problems and on more than one occasion he had lost control of his actions towards myself and others that I have witnessed. Additionally I have had first had experience where he has done things from talking negatively about employees in a group setting to even violent or borderline violent confrontations. He has had at least one HR complaint filed that I am personally aware of and besides getting a talking to nothing was done and the company stood by and did nothing to prevent retaliation. The company started as a way to help under served areas get access to high speed internet service. This has changed over the last 4 to 5 years though. It is now more about how many installs can be done than providing a quality product. The companies focus is more about bragging about how much the company has grown their monthly meetings than providing a quality product. In the monthly meeting we all got to hear about all of the growth and huge projects that are in the pipe. We were told how much the company was growing and how much money the company has but when "profit sharing" time came around we were reminded where we stood. The company would distribute as much as few hundred dollars saying how hard things where and they had to make sacrifices to afford that. Intermax does not use a standard pay scale for employees. This was made obvious by the fact that they discourage talking to others about your salary, and after talking with former co-workers. They basically are trying to pay each employee as little as possible. This is shown by the last of employee reviews and pay raises. When I (and others I have worked with) did attempt to get a performance review for a pay raise is was a fight that could take literally months. There was even a time where I was promised incentives and items like a company gas card and a personal company vehicle however nothing came of those. I had to constantly ask and followup for over a year and got nothing but excuses. I basically got the hint that they really did not plan to honor their offers and decided to write it off. My suggestion is to get everything promised before the review meeting ends, get it in writing at that time, and do not let them walk out of the door and rely on them to follow up because it will not happen. Should you be considering Intermax to advance your career, I recommend that you keep moving. There is no advancement structure in place. Should you be looking to get experience I would even suggest looking elsewhere. They have lost many good employees because they cannot or do not want to provide additional options for growth and there are more organized companies that can provide you with the experience you are after. They do not have a training structure in place and will give a little information then expect you to ask questions about things from there. Lastly when management talks about "family values" remember it is all a cheap veneer. They do not care about anyone but themselves.
