Pros

Good communication Good pay Good benefits A lot of passion from top to bottom

Shifts can be difficult to find a balance. A lot of change and growing right now which needs open-mindedness. That some senior employees have difficulty with.

Pros

Some of the best coworkers I've worked with. High pay. The afternoon/night shift managers are some of the most amazing and understanding professionals I've worked under. Onsite gym, showers, lockers, kitchen, tv lounges, food options(prepackaged sandwiches/snacks/drinks). Schedule flexibility. Working independently without excessive managerial supervision. Very relaxed work environment(most of the time). UNION BENEFITS!! Annual pay raises plus cost of living expense raises through the union. Showing that you're a hard worker gets recognized and actually means something. Shift change and new job opportunities(Get first priority for new job openings before they post them publicly). Not having to deal with the public!(Depending on which shift you work) No mandatory OT! Lots of OT opportunities!

Cons

Rough hours for someone not adapted to working late(1-2am). Disconnect between upper management. Classic trade union mentality of "pull yourself up by the boot straps" from some of the older fellas. "Connections" are valued more than experience in some cases(for job openings). Disconnect from the different workers under the same company(i.e. drivers vs mechanics vs fuelers/detailers). Dealing with the public i.e. a street dependent person walking around having an episode or whatnot(If you work at the downtown transit station). Cleaning Biohazards(get used to malt liquor vomit, blood, urine, and dirty syringes). Seniority controls which shifts you get so being new will 100% of the time get you the least desired shift.
