Pros

They responded to public pressure and increased pay. Management varies by unit. It may be "smile and nod" or you may have fabulously supportive management. It's the place to work if you want to serve those who have less and need more. That's the real reward.

Cons

Executive management is corrupt, blatantly lies, and protect each other's misbehavior and salaries. Employees are expensive, technology is the enemy, and clients really aren't a priority because they don't do what's needed to hire and retain employee. Turnover rate is crazy because of the workload exceed compensation - and really not worth putting up with a jerk boss. Top management make $250k plus and the dogs can barely survive. Pay raises are grudging and once in a blue moon. EMT get hefty raises regularly.
