Pros
Good products; nice store layout
Cons
If you are looking for a management position or if you are a serious makeup artist, please think carefully before working for Inglot Canada. It turned out to be one of the worst career choices I have ever made and I regret it. This is a retail job. It is about selling. Unfortunately, because the company is not well known in Canada sales were extremely low and the pressure was on to reach very unrealistic targets. We were told to canvass the streets and hand out flyers even in cold weather. We also had to stand outside the door and harass people to come in for makeovers. It was extremely embarrassing and unprofessional. We had to become very pushy to make sales. The pay was okay, but there were no benefits. The products are amazing and the store is very well put together. The company is run like a franchise. The way I understand it there are different owners. The owners in Canada mean well, but don’t understand the retail industry or the cosmetic industry. This has resulted in poor sales and staff who are very stressed. Half the staff were let go or quit only after two months of opening. I didn’t realize until it was too late that Inglot had stores in Canada about eight years ago and they all closed down except for the one store in Montreal. The Montreal store closed down a just few months ago while the others closed eight years ago - within six months or less of opening. The one store in Canada that opened recently will definitely close down. The writing in on the wall. Take note: don’t work here. If you really need a job just to pay the bills maybe this will work for you. But be prepared to canvass the streets with flyers and take daily criticism for the lack of sales. If you must work in the retail industry in cosmetics, work for a larger well- known brand because at least you will have customers coming in the door. It will still be stressful, but not as stressful as this.
