Pros

Rank and file are generally great. Some good benefits. Unlimited PTO so take as much as you can.

Cons

As others have noted, product whiplash. There's no commitment to any path forward for any period of time. Hard to sell a product that's constantly changing and extremely fragmented. Whatever CTO is currently interested in is the priority. Leadership (CEO/CTO) has fragile egos and key executives refuse to be accountable for their actions and can lead to retaliation. I wouldn't trust most of HR and definitely not most of the c-suite. CEO told company that company culture was NOT his responsibility after laying off 25%+ of the company and having no plan for moving forward. These people are like a caricature from the tv show Silicon Valley - too busy sniffing their own farts to realize they stink. Very little promotion from within, mentorship, or clear career development. All the good people already left.

Pros

I had an excellent experience interning at a mid-sized developer-focused software company. The team fostered a strong learning environment with approachable engineers, solid mentorship, and a healthy culture of code reviews and collaboration. I was given real ownership over a backend project that improved internal workflows and simulated customer-facing processes, which helped me strengthen my understanding of distributed systems and testing practices. The company’s remote culture was organized and supportive, with clear communication channels and helpful feedback loops. Overall, it was a rewarding internship that gave me both autonomy and guidance in equal measure.

Cons

Honestly hard to find any cons — the team dynamic made collaboration smooth and enjoyable.
