Pros

The people at the bottom share a few things in common. One, everyone equally feels unheard. Two, everyone is hoping the next round of layoffs doesn't effect them. The pro is the majority of the company consists of mostly young people trying to start and/or advance their careers. Suffice to say, they are learning a valuable lesson in business; how not to run one.

Cons

It is very clear from the top down that the facade of CEO, COO, and any C-Suite person actually cares about anything outside of revenue. Shame on me and everyone for actually believing that "Industrious is different" and "we're not like WeWork, we're all about hospitality". The truth is, Jamie Hodari and Justin Stewart DID at one point have a great business idea and probably did surround themselves with people who cared. Today, the status and health of the company does not set Industrious apart from WeWork, or Enron for that matter. After a year into the company it was very clear that the entire company was being ran like a Columbia University capstone project or McKinsey experiment. Everything from how evaluations are conducted to how they are word-for-word executed is a formula. The local teams report to General Managers who do nothing but pass up the data to the Regional Managers who do nothing but ponder the data and escalate to the top; truly a giant paper pushing enterprise. If the GMs all were laid off tomorrow, could happen, nothing would change. Running a location went from actually grasping the idea of running a business to making sure my MXA knows how and when to wipe down the common area tables. Plus having a sales person on my team who doesn't live remotely close to my location, makes zero sense. Long story short, if you're a company 10+ years in, the concept of "we're a startup, things change pretty fast here" is no longer an excuse, it's a shame. The poor mental health of the people at the top is the reason for the dramatic turnover and trauma-bonding of the people at the bottom; and by bottom I mean literally everyone without "Chief" in their title. It is crystal clear that the D.E.I. efforts are forced. If diversity was important the exec team would have more diversity and not just another ivy league group in an echo chamber. As a POC and LGBTQI+ ally, it's clear that Industrious will say one thing for optics and do the bare minimum.

Pros

Honestly I really enjoyed my experience at this company. So much so that I have applied multiple times to return and work for them but they continue to send the automatic replies of "We went with another candidate" which does make me sad because I have all 5+ stars from all my former members about how they really enjoyed me running their location. I wish I wouldn't have left when I did but I had to due to personal reasons. Benefits are incredible, the Member Experience Manager position is really a great position and they pay very well (in my opinion). Honestly no complaints.

Cons

Only that I left at the time that I did and I wish I was still working for them. I got to meet both Jamie and Justin and honestly I can say they are probably the best CEO's I've ever worked for.
