Thanks for your review and feedback. It's much appreciated, we try to learn from every review that we get. Would love to here some more concrete steps on how we could improve our planning, if you have any in mind - feel free to let us know.
Let me explain why planning is a bit hard for us. We are a social business that is just starting out (2 years officially now). We test a lot, we pivot a lot, and we adapts a lot as we go. This is because we are trying to figure out what is the best way to do this for everybody involved (the communities, the team, the sponsors, and the partners). It sometimes may seem as if things are not planned well, but often they are - they just end up going wrong because we test a lot of different approaches, some of which will work, some of which won't work. In case they don't work, it often appears to be failed planning, but in reality we are simply trying out things. I won't deny that especially during the first few Liter of Light projects it was pretty chaotic, but I think that we've improved this a lot already, wouldn't you agree? There is improvement - partially thanks to people like yourself who help us with useful feedback!
For the Liter of Light project specifically we have already implemented a variety of checklists, playbooks, and other helpful ways to plan the projects better - because we do recognize the challenge also of course. It's just that when you're trying to figure out the best way to run a project, the fastest way to do this is through trial and error. It's the only way what works and what doesn't, especially when dealing with large groups of volunteers.
Despite the above, we try to always maintain the highest standards of work in everything we do. Our main goal is to create impact for underprivileged communities and the youths/volunteers that make it happen together with us.
If you are a Light Engineer it means you know me personally, so come have a chat with me and let me know what exactly we should improve and some suggestions how! Would love to hear those! :-)
