Pros

There are a lot of wonderful and smart individuals that work here, that truly believe in the mission and want to make a positive impact on the world. Benefits are good, includes unlimited PTO. Pay is not competitive, IMO.

Cons

Depending on what team you’re on, the cons will vary. The sales team in the past has lacked effective leadership, and has had multiple re-organizations in the last couple years to address this. For the BDR role, there is simply no growth, and it was a full time job in and of itself making sure we were paid our commission on time. In general, internal movement within the company is not realistic for 95% of employees. The transfer and promotion processes are not well structured, and are not created to help individuals grow. The recruitment process has improved, but when I was hired on in May 2021, my recruiter told me the wrong salary amount in my initial interview as well as my verbal offer. When the written offer letter was sent over, I questioned the salary amount as it was significantly less than what had been communicated, and turns out, the amount given to me was never correct and the recruiter did not notice until I had brought it up. The list could go on, but in general, this company lacks the ability to take critical feedback (specifically from individual contributors) on how to improve and fails to make individuals feel valued. There is also a SERIOUS lack of diversity in leadership roles that needs to be addressed.

Pros

I joined InStride recently and it feels like I've been here more than a year! The mission for helping frontline workers & employees access life-changing education feels really rewarding, and it feels really good to wake up every day knowing my work is tied to something so impactful. The people here are not only smart and driven but also genuinely fun to work with! (Lots of humor!) Cross-functional team members never fail to roll up their sleeves to help each other and support. Biggest plus: Given the nature of the business and client needs around data transparency and ROI, investments in Data & Analytics is a big win! Analytics isn’t treated as a back-office reporting function, but as central to driving key business decisions and solving business problems (ROI, LE Funnel, data quality, CP trust etc.) Unlike many ed-tech firms, I think data here feels like a core part of the product/platform and client value, In many ways it drives retention, expansion, and overall business defensibility.

Cons

Workloads spike during peak client deliverables, so balancing priorities is key. ( Data & Analytics team is growing, but still lean for the company of this size) We use many different tools, some of which could be consolidated to simplify work and protect budget.
