Pros

My coworkers were generally nice and helpful people.

Cons

I was recently hired by this place back in May, under the circumstances of turning it into a remote job once I leave for school in August. I left my old job I liked because I saw this is as a good opportunity. As I started working, I realized how greatly I was being underpaid. $16/hour for having experience in this field (and a degree). I asked for at LEAST $17. But, of course, I saw this as a good opportunity. As gas prices rose dramatically, the majority of my paycheck was going towards my car, since I was driving from Fresno to Visalia 5 days a week. But they told me it was easy to move up, so I just saw it as a stepping stone. As August grew closer, I finally got my move-in date for school and communicated to the manager. From there, he told me he would talk to Rick (the CEO). A few days later, the manager approached me at my desk and bluntly said that they had no remote work for me and that my last day was before I was to leave for school. Consistently being sent home early due to no work given to me, he eventually texted me and told me I would now be "on call". Of course, due to the paperwork I signed and California's "at-will" policy, nothing can be done. I now have to apply for unemployment.

Thank you for your positive review and for highlighting the flexible working hours, growth opportunities, and supportive environment at In The Light Urns. We appreciate your feedback and your contributions to our team. We did notice the mention of "no benefits or insurance" as a con, and we’d like to clarify. For years, we’ve offered a robust PPO medical plan for employees after 90 days, with the option to extend coverage to their families. While some employees in the past may have opted out of this coverage, their decision was reflected in their wages—a policy we’ve always communicated transparently. Following our recent restructuring, all team members currently with us have enrolled in the medical plan, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the company. If this review was submitted by a former employee or contains inaccurate information, we encourage them to reach out so we can clear up any misunderstanding. Additionally, our benefits package includes PTO, paid holidays, and significant discounts on our products, including engraving and graphic services, for employees and their families. We continually strive to enhance the benefits and support we provide to our valued team members. Please note: This message was run though an A.I. to ensure clarity, spelling grammar. Thank you again for your feedback and for being part of our mission to serve grieving families with care and excellence.

We always appreciate feedback from our team. Since making some employee-focused changes six months ago, things have really improved, and our long-term staff has been pretty happy. So this review—posted less than 30 days ago—caught us off guard. We haven’t had any terminations in over six months, and with just one manager here, the mention of “managers” doesn’t quite fit. It just doesn’t line up with what we see day to day here. That said, we’re committed to keeping this a great place to work and always welcome honest feedback from our actual team.
