Pros

• Flexibility that comes from support work • There's an online portal for some training • The individual people you meet working there are generally lovely

Cons

• Very small number of procedures and guidelines, mainly aimed at how the support worker is responsible for things outside of their scope/how much trouble a support worker would be in if they did X,Y,Z... • Revolving door of management, I haven't seen a coordinator stick it out for longer than 18 months. • Poor communication on multiple fronts; key staffing changes, new policy changes, participant's schedule for the shift, management follow-up, incident reporting and follow-up. You'll often feel like you're on your own, and that you have to figure things out on your own, which would be okay if you were paid as a schads level 3 employee, but more than likely you'll be a schads level 1 employee (just a dollar more than someone stocking shelves at Kmart)
