Pros

Strength of the talent - The vast majority of the employees were very good and very focused on excellence. When harnessed effectively, the category managers were able to deliver substantial value to the overall mission of the account. The strategic sourcing managers were also highly effective in driving the process itself - The combination of the two, supported by leadership drove significant client value

Cons

Account driven model makes it difficult to move up or even laterally. Also, the fact that the accounts were in specific geographies meant that a certain amount of support had o travel in/out and were essentially "shared" resources with other accounts. While this is a mature and effective model when managed correctly, the downside is that it is difficult to commit to client expectations (timing).

Pros

ICG offers a wide range of experience across many different industries because of the diverse client base. Food, pharmaceutical, consumer, and industrial manufacturing were some industries that I was able to gain experience working in over a relatively short period of time.

Cons

I had some fundamental issues with corporate culture and ethics. On more than a few occasions, I was asked to be prepared to exaggerate current business capability and expertise to the point of being deceptive. I never agreed to do this, but was pressured into "being creative."
