Pros

Great content. The films and filmmakers are the reason to be involved with this company. Most of the people are great to work with and are like minded in wanting equality and diversity to be a priority in the workplace.

Cons

The A.D. dept. is difficult if not down right painful to work in. The rest of the company seems to be much more functional and employees in other depts. seem to stay and thrive outside of Audience Development. - They have people with no technical skills or backgrounds managing and running technical positions which creates massive delays and bottlenecks. - People are fired and their work is loaded onto others, without compensation, real acknowledgement or training. And then you are assessed and given performance reviews on what was another job title and tasks. - Someone whose gender was opposite of mine was paid less and given a lesser title for the same work. I'm a dude. No matter how hard I tried to speak to it being a negative it seemed acceptable to management. - Things change constantly for no reason and you never fully get a chance to be part of a team or get a sense of accomplishment. - You don't get real raises (unless you're upper management), so negotiate on your way in. - 3/4's of the company is managers, so enter the company as one or enjoy someone else speaking for you or blaming you for mismanaging projects while they online shop and get a promotion. (Not a Joke) - Everything takes way too long. Projects take 9 months when they should take 9 weeks. But it's a non-profit and it's taxpayer money so... - The hierarchy is insurmountable if you value clear communication or any kind of resolve.

Pros

I very much enjoyed working here. Passionate, considerate, and SMART people. I learned a lot and that was key. At ITVS you’re here to gain experience, or be part of a mission, or do what you love… but not really to make money.

Cons

ITVS is admittedly tight on budget (which they can’t really help, they go through fed funding something like every 3 years). But those who can and do stay are its biggest cheerleaders. But it’s probably hard to gain and retain new talent with a limited budget.

Cons

Little room to move up. Median pay for the industry.
