Higher chance of promotion if one do not rock the boat and/or check the ‘diversity’ box, and. If you have a close relationship with your manager, policy alignments might not be applicable to you. If you have a “excellent command of French… to ensuring effective communication in our diverse, global community” it’s a profile for a senior management role, despite the school having locations in 4 countries, and being a school for the world.
Cons
Same as the “pros”. A lot of things are done simply to check boxes with no value add. The promotion from within saying, do take with a large pinch of salt.
