Pros
Excellent benefits and the employee-ownership model is genuinely good on paper. There are some really talented, hardworking people at IMA The work itself can be rewarding
Cons
The Kansas City area office has a highly cliquey culture. If you’re not part of the inner circle, you’re often left out of key discussions and opportunities. Poor local leadership is the biggest issue. A local leader shows favoritism, lacks transparency, and seems more focused on protecting the clique than building a healthy team. This is in stark contrast to the strong leadership praised in other IMA offices. Extremely high turnover in the Overland Park office, seemingly much more than other offices. Good people keep leaving (sometimes in pairs), which creates constant knowledge gaps, heavier workloads for those who stay. Limited growth or advancement if you’re not already “in” with the local power group. Many capable employees feel stuck or pushed out. Pay is not competitive with the market, especially given the dysfunction you have to navigate.
