Hired Then Laid Off - Senior Software Engineer IFS Employee Review

Pros

Good work-life balance with manageable workloads and supportive flexibility in most teams.

Cons

Recent layoffs have significantly impacted both probationary and permanent employees, with reports suggesting close to 1,000 people affected. What is particularly concerning is that hiring continued shortly before these layoffs, with some employees being encouraged to join immediately despite apparent internal awareness of upcoming workforce reductions. This raises serious questions about workforce planning and management transparency. The situation reflects poorly on leadership decision-making and has created uncertainty and distrust among employees. Prospective employees should carefully consider job stability and communication practices within the organization.

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Like many technology companies, we operate in a dynamic and uncertain market and make workforce decisions based on evolving business and geopolitical priorities. These are difficult decisions and are never taken lightly. While we can’t comment on individual situations, we are committed to running a high performance organization where we communicate as openly as possible, act responsibly, and support our people through periods of change - TJ

Pros

As a sales rep at IFS, you have a unique opportunity to disrupt the ERP, EAM, FSM and AI market by providing robust industry specific capabilities across each of these solution areas on a single platform that addresses a lot of the critical pain points customers have today with legacy/traditional enterprise software providers. IFS invests deeply not just in their platform but also in brand and marketing. This creates a lot of exciting opportunities to be relevant to your customers and prospects (i.e. Big Ten sponsorship and F1 Cadillac sponsorship). This is a good time to be a sales rep at IFS.

Cons

My biggest complaint is the recent turnover in leadership in North America. Created a period of uncertainty but has since stabilized for the most part. IFS has grown fast over the last few years. This obviously comes with some growth pains. For example, limited presales resources. IFS also needs to work on newer customer references. IFS has typically relied on the same customer references which are strong but it would be powerful to see new customer references emerging from some of the newer larger customers IFS has acquired over the last few years.
