Pros

Valuable work with a huge positive impact, with a great international work environment, big room for networking and getting to know amazing people. There is room for development.

Cons

Hard to move out of your initial contract. Don't start a local/national staff contract! We are paid a small section of an international / Geneva staff member, and the benefits, holidays, etc are extremely unfair too. Same work for a 5th of the salary (or less).

Pros

The UNGA is a busy time at the UN, this provides a lot of excellent experience. The team works well and tries its best to ensure it is a beneficial one. Unlike many internships related to the UN, it is paid a stipend, which makes a difference

Cons

The stipend is not quite enough to live on, but it is fair for 3 days a week.

Pros

Friendly and inspiring environment. You really feel at the center of humanitarian work and that you can contribute to concrete impacts for vulnerable people.

Cons

Management does not always coach employees in new roles and too much turnover. Difficulties in balancing work and family life when you're hired on a contract basis.
