- Intense workload at RM/SRM level (even for the industry), limiting time available for skills development - High and often unrealistic expectations given the salary - Project management time far outweighs research task time at mid-level - Feedback is collected internally but rarely acted on - Internal progression is difficult, as shown for example by SREs at IFF being considered RM-level elsewhere - The company relies on staff going above and beyond their role to produce quality outputs
