Pros

My team was filled with incredible working professionals. There is some outstanding talent at this firm with a friendly and laid-back working environment. I had a great work-life balance, and I'm happy to call some of my former colleagues my personal friends. The location in downtown is really spectacular with lots of things to do nearby. The CEOs are very friendly, and there's a fair amount of interaction between upper management and even entry level employees. Free lunches every Thursday are a nice perk. The company really stresses keeping individuals, and I liked that even if there was stress in the firm, there was never any inclination that employees wouldn't be taken care of.

Cons

This firm has a very conservative environment, and I was ultimately disappointed in disparities between departments and individuals. Men were automatically included in sporting events, while as I woman I had to ask multiple times and was still excluded from sporting events, while recent male hires and interns were still invited. There are certain individuals who skyrocketed positions within months, while others had to wait years for promotion opportunities (basically until someone quit or retired). While there are yearly raises/bonuses implied, the increase in pay is fairly insignificant compared to what other firms offer. Ultimately, the low pay, disparity between individuals, and transition in my job roles is what led me to look elsewhere. Vacation is also minimal and takes years before you get an increase in days, and benefits don't kick in for a whole 3 months which leaves you out of luck if you get sick soon after employment.

Pros

The company culture is very positive. C-level Management are very friendly and approachable. Everyone is friendly and collaborative. I really appreciate the flexibility and good work-life balance at IDS. The company has good benefits, and they add different new benefits for employees frequently. Examples are great insurance, long term disability, FSA, GYM membership contribution, free lunch program, different annual events and recognitions, various snack and variety of coffee choices in the office. IDS offers growth opportunities with continuing education program and always have personal growth opportunities for hard workers. All employees are friendly and helpful. Overall, it is a great place to work if you want a friendly workplace with competitive compensation, benefit package and great work-life balance.

Cons

Communication with managers in different sectors sometime could be challenging.

Pros

They really do prepare you as you're starting your accounting career. The training was thorough. They're organized in the sense that it's clear what each position is responsible for.

Cons

Pay was not fair. Management favors the property managers when there's issues. Accounting dept. always gets the short end of the stick. There's no accountability.
