Pros

Really wonderful journalists and great colleagues.

Cons

Unless you're in a management position, this place treats you like complete garbage. The leadership is incompetent, dishonest, cowardly, arrogant, and verbally abusive. They are terrible and mean-spirited people to the core. The work environment is hostile and discriminatory, morale is low and depression is sky high. People go to bathrooms or outside to cry. Culture aside, if you freelance for them, don't expect to get paid for months (or years). If you work full time, there are no raises, no reviews, no prospects for career growth. You go to work every day anxious that you might be laid off suddenly and cruelly. People are constantly quitting or waiting until they're able to quit. Too many more to go into detail. It's the worst place I've ever set foot in. DO NOT WORK HERE, it's not worth it.

Pros

Since I've been here for a while, my POV may be much different than someone who just started. I find there's a lot of freedom for people who have been here a while, especially on my vertical - I know other verticals don't have it as easy even if they've been working here a while. But its not that hard to learn the loopholes of the place and make them work to your benefit. It's pretty easy to work from home and a lot of people abuse it with no consequences.

Cons

If you're not white or male, over 30 or don't have an Ivy League pedigree you're going to get treated like crap. When I started this place was somewhat diverse, but now the majority of the editors are old white men and there are barely even any reporters of color or culture. There is no growth opportunities - in fact, most of the young editors have been demoted and pushed out.
