Pros

Since I joined over a year ago the company has already made some really big strides in positive directions and is clearly thinking carefully about its growth and scaling of its operations. It's a shame to see some of the older reviews, which don't apply to how IAM Cloud is structured and does business today. There have been a number of really great additions to the team recently, and many at a senior level, heading up teams which were historically part of a flat structure when the company was smaller. Along with these new hires and a more mature business structure, we now have a stronger focus on cross-team collaboration and continuous improvement, which makes for a slicker employee experience. Being fully remote has a huge positive impact on employees' work-life balance, and allows us greater reach in our hiring. There's also a big focus on employee happiness, with regular communication, engagement surveys and improvements to the benefits offered. There's a positive vibe culture-wise, and it feels like employees are empowered to bring their best and most authentic selves to work. There's also a genuine collective sense of all working towards something great together, and I look forward to seeing what the future brings.

Cons

There are a number of strong characters on the team, many of whom are quite extroverted and can take up a large proportion of airtime in meetings. An appreciation of less vocal employees, and encouragement for them to have more of a voice, would potentially bring even better ideas and results to the table.

Pros

A great team of super smart and friendly people. Working on some really exciting projects with almost unimaginable potential. Solid pay. Remote working.

Cons

Today, there are hardly any cons. But IAM Cloud has come a very long way from its humble and occasionally difficult roots of building a software company from scratch with no investment. I've seen an amazing amount of change over the 7 years (at the point of writing) I've worked for the business. One genuine challenge facing the company today is trying to bring greater diversity (a big problem in tech in general), but it's something the business is actively trying to change, and it's getting better with time.

Pros

Autonomy - there's a lot of freedom in terms of how to deliver solutions. Just because something was done a certain way in the past, doesn't dictate that things should continue in that fashion. Flexibility - aside from a few meetings during core hours, there is the ability to shuffle around your working hours to suit your needs. You are evaluated on your output, rather than whether or not you're sat at your desk 9-5 every day. Remote working - you are provided with the tools needed to work remotely effectively. The company has been pro remote working before the pandemic, and doesn't feel like an after thought. Trust - as a team of skilled, passionate people, you're left to manage your time as you see fit. Tooling - choice of laptop and OS, productivity tooling and courses are easy to acquire through the company provided there's a tangible benefit in terms of knowledge or efficiency. Leadership - all of the directors are down to earth and approachable. They work hands on along side the rest of the employees and don't feel like distant authority figures pulling the strings from afar.

Cons

There's still some refinement needed to working patterns and practices as the company grows and the teams mature. However, any good ideas are listened to and implemented, and as things are found to work or not work, things are tweaked and continually improved. There is what some might call a "start-up mentality" - which is a positive in most ways, but may be a little intimidating if you're used to working in a rigid, enterprise-style company where you're drip fed a list of user stories to get on with.
