Pros

Over my time at Compare the company really tranformed. A year in startup goes twice as fast as for other company, and it is no secret that there were growing pains as Compare adapted to meet its increasing success. Yet in the space of less than a year OT switched to steady hours, inspirational managers were hired, better process was put in place, team events were organised and every birthday was celebrated. I saw a shift in mindset in team members from 'why isn't this place better?' to 'what can I do to make this place better?'. This is an exciting company to work for - one of the fastest growing Fintechs in Asia, one that has a flat structure, and one that empowers with autonomy where you can establish a business case. It won't be for everyone, but if you are someone who embraces the startup challenge (and a little chaos) you'll do well. If I came back to HK I'd consider working here again.

Cons

Innovation and breaking new ground doesn't go hand in hand with perfection, and there remain areas to improve. A good company, however, will observe, diagnose and respond, and I think Compare are heading in the right direction.

Pros

- Great place to learn and grow - Management is willing to mentor and help you learn - Colleagues are very diverse, come from all corners of the world. Makes for interesting and fun workplace - If you prove yourself capable, the opportunities here are incredible. You could be given full ownership over a project, and even put in charge of a team - Fast growing company that recently received considerable funding from VERY credible investors - Great market opportunity for the space the company is developing in - Many teams and positions and flexible arrangements where you could move around teams if you want wider exposure - Hong Kong is a great place to work and live - and so much more... Honestly could not recommend this company enough!

Cons

- Typical frustrations of working at a startup: - Lack of engineering talent in Hong Kong makes it difficult to find and retain good programmers (but this is a widespread problem across startups in Hong Kong) - You need to be very self-driven to succeed here. You need to be able to own your project/product/code, be eager to learn, and keep an open-minded - For former bankers/consultants: startup culture is very different from banking/consultancy culture in terms of work/life balance. Which could actually be a bad thing when you're leading a team and used to being a perfectionist

Pros

- remuneration package was very decent when compare to similar institutions - good at making content that make people thinks it's a nice

Cons

- low quality service - scam reward mechanism, no one follow up with the enquiries - worst HR department i have never seen in my past over 15 years experience, only say what they want to say and they don't listen, employee review was robotic, ask questions, then you answered with no continue conversation. it was not a conversation - bad culture - financial completely rely on investors and large scale retrenchment can be happen suddenly, it happened few times already but they never announced
