Pros

Compensation was good, regarding salaries, bonuses, and staff discounts. Company culture is mostly positive and geared toward fostering a sense of community. The network of brands connected to Hype DC via Accent Group allows the employee to access an incredible range of products with the previously mentioned discount. All in all, a good place to get a career started, not a good place to keep it going though.

Cons

The business has now begun a war on Annual Leave; Metrics to achieve your bonus for the month are as follows; achieving the preset monthly wage target, online order fulfillment above 95% for the month, and achieving your stores monthly sales target. Previously annual leave was not included in a stores expenditures, however, the business is now including leave. So anyone who takes leave on a month that you achieve your sales target and order target, now puts everyone in that store at risk of missing out on a good amount of extra money for their genuine hard work. Area Managers discreetly encouraged borderline fraud to enhance store KPI's Workloads can be realistic, however, like any business with faulty leaders higher up, there are plenty of times through the year when workloads stop being healthy and become borderline abusive. The culture is beginning to take a turn for the worse. This is a high performance business, but now it's just crossing the lines into manipulative and greedy; fix it now, or you'll become dead in the water

Pros

Good casual job to have alongside studying or other commitments. Met some really great people along the way, if you filter out the toxic personalities the place can sometimes attract. Casual shifts= work/life balance. However this was often taken advantage of with shifts consistently needing covers. Being 'unavailable' more than handful of times, got you in the bad books! Decent staff discounts with bonuses if you ever made a sales target. Casual pay was good, not so much for full-time.

Cons

Super high turnaround of staff & managers- I was a casual for 5 years and had a total of 7 managers at the one store. The higher management would provide unreasonable sales targets that you really had to bend over backwards to even get close to. This resulted in a competitive nature between team mates and feelings of shame/disappointment if targets were not met. Outdated sales tactics for this day and age- consumption habits are changing as a result of the climate crisis, and Hype/ Accent group does not address this in the slightest. Hassling customers to buy socks and waterproofing they don't even need isn't going to work forever! Consistently understaffed!!
