Pros

If you work hard, you will be recognized and will advance. I've always considered the pay fair for what I'm doing. My boss is very open to scheduling around my availability, and works with requests off so I can have a life outside of work.

Cons

You have to get the right set of upper management. I've worked at several Hy-Vees now, and the management makes all the difference in the world to how well the job works out. Benefits are a bit expensive, but who's aren't these days?

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
