Pros

Great opportunity for a first job. They work around your schedule and let you move around departments to find what you like. Hardly ever fire anyone unless there are major issues such as theft.

Cons

The pay is low and hours are split between many high school and college students. Harder to get many hours working courtesy or cashier if not full-time. Hire on a lot of people for the holidays but end up having too many employees after the new year.

Pros

Hy-Vee is a great company that truly cares about the communities we serve. Our 14 fundamentals drive both the customer and employee experience, guiding how we treat and serve our customers and each other. Leadership actively seeks employee feedback and uses it to drive meaningful change across all locations. There is a wide variety of jobs and career opportunities in many different areas of the company from retail to supply chain, IT, marketing, and so many more. obust employee benefits include tuition assistance for degrees, certifications, and foundational learning at little to no cost to employees, and the company focuses on promoting from within for most leadership roles.

Cons

As a 24/7 retail business, scheduling can be demanding in some roles — though the variety of positions means there's flexibility to find the right fit. With a large, decentralized workforce spread across hundreds of locations, consistent employee communication is an ongoing area of focus and improvement.
