Pros
First, I felt like I was fairly compensated for my job and it did pay very well. The benefits were good. We actually got a good bonus this year for a solid 2021 company performance. The people at the site from the senior engineers, chemists, analysts and operators are knowledgeable and willing to help you when you ask for it.
Cons
There is a huge disconnect between the people making the business decisions and the people actually doing the hard work. The Division President and VPs will visit but nothing really changes. The higher ups could not figure out how to get products transferred into the plant from a company they bought two years ago. A lot of things are outsourced from Purchasing to invoice payments and it was very frustrating to deal with at times especially when our scientific lab supplier cut us off when invoices were not getting paid. The site as a whole has a very apathetic attitude. People just do the bare minimum job and quick to push off their responsibilities on others. Nothing will get done unless you call a meeting about it, so I was pulled into a lot of status update meetings to get projects moving along. The amount Huntsman is willing to invest in capital improvements is very tight and it does not take much money for a project to get cancelled. Finally, the local management needs improvement and Huntsman needs to bring people in who are knowledgeable, stay focused and keep the extraneous crap from reaching their employees (ie. push back on other departments skirting their responsibilities) so they can actually focus on the job they were hired to do.
