Pros
Good co-workers. Solid benefits. Livable wages. Short commute, this one is only a personal pro but they need all the help they can get.
Cons
Where to start? They seem physically incapable of promoting within. They would rather combine jobs than promote, this was evidenced by them giving the plant manager a "promotion" and leaving him as plant manager. The pay raises are laughable and they do not give any consideration towards merit. This isn't speculation, this was explicitly stated. They also would rather people quit and hire anew than pay people more. This causes significant strain on employees as they have to continually train new hires and then are told they aren't being efficient enough. As per the "us vs. them" mentality as stated in the title, they seem to go out of their way to show that office employees are more valuable. They constantly act as though we are working in a feudal system with the various office employees being lords and ladies and the production workers being the serfs. At the time of this review they have gone as far as to install locks to the office to keep employees from entering it during off shift hours. There are no documents or secrets in the office space that are open to the general plant before this action. The installation of locks is pointless and prevents off shifts from accessing basic office supplies like pens and paper which are needed to do our jobs. They frequently schedule events at a time that benefits first shift with little to no consideration of the off shifts. All of this enhances the feel of "us vs. them" as they seem to always be beyond reproach, however general labor is always questioned. Even if a mistake is made by management, rather than admit it they find a way that it was production's fault. With all of this there is also no discourse, A new rule is mandated and implemented, with no conversation of consideration. They recently put out a company wide email to write a review here, and this is likely the first time in the several years I have worked here that our input has been requested. They will also claim that they are sinking money back into the company, however that money goes into making the facility look more impressive than actually a better facility. Frequently "upgrades" will be made that hinder productivity, however since they look good they are implemented. I have gone on for a long time, and likely could go on longer, including things like the massive disconnect between when an order is placed and how long it takes to fill. The odd policies that are in place governing days off and sick time. Etc. However, basically I would recommend that if you take a job for this company to continue looking elsewhere as you likely won't be here long, and if you are be prepared to be disrespected and insulted on a nearly daily basis.
