Pros

- Really great coworkers - Flexible hours - Good if you don't want any major responsibility

Cons

- Management doesn't want to hear about your ideas—if you question anything or suggest how to make things better, you will be shot down. They will get defensive about anything that isn't working well. - HubPages is trying to be like Medium or any other fancy publisher, but they aren't. It is ruining the authenticity and original charm of the platform. It's supposed to be for "everyday experts." - Raises are few and far between. And if you ever want to make over $20 as an editor, look elsewhere. Don't let them bully you into thinking you should want to do more tasks without being compensated for them. You are worth more than that. - Everything you do is tracked. For tasks that aren't tracked on the internal system, you must keep a list of them and how long they took. That being said, it seems like it has been very easy for people to get away with doing nothing. - Management treats the team like children. No hard conversations. No minimum expectations. Everyone gets the same raise and the same bonus to prevent "unfairness." - Very high turnover. Especially during the pandemic. No attempts to make the situation any better or more comfortable. - Doesn't want to invest in the company's future—only if there will be immediate results.

Pros

As a content writer, I am not an employee, but rather I am choosing to place my original writing on the HubPages website, and as a result I share advertising revenue with HubPages. Pros: write at your own pace, chose your own topics; writer keeps and owns their material 100% and can remove it from HubPages at any time.

Cons

Earning from online writing can be difficult and requires a great deal of patience and even luck; the online writing game is constantly changing, so HubPages is constantly changing their publishing requirements. It is challenging to keep up with the constant changes. HubPages, by necessity of surviving as an online publisher, must be very particular about the quality and subjects its accepts for publication. This causes less skilled writers and those who do not write using perfect English to become frustrated and even angry when their work is rejected. Also some writers expect to be paid immediately and handsomely for their work; however, for most people HubPages is a means of earning pocket change in the beginning, or over time perhaps a couple hundred bucks per month. There may be a few who earn a living from their share of HubPages advertising revenue, but they are the rare exceptions.
