Great people, great culture, interesting technical challenges

High workload, difficult industry for funding

- a lot of company paid for social events (could be a con if you don't enjoy this) - free coffee/tea/cereals and food on Friday evenings - private healthcare/dentist. Standard annual leave and pension scheme - overall quite high intelligent workforce and people are nice - good for those early in their career - Team leads are a mixed bag - some are good and others still too inexperienced. But generally good people. - Handful of people, mainly the C-suite, hold majority of power to make decisions. All nice and willing to listen but can be slow to take action.

- work hours are 9-6pm not 9-5pm - Company claims to only measure quality/quantity of work not hours put in but a lot of extra hours have to be put in to match workload. - no overtime pay - company fundamentals needs work - weekend work only paid or time recouped at standard 1:1 rate, little to no real flexibility & no work from home even for staff who work at desks, weak career progression for most - no inflationary raises as 'you will be rewarded for your work only' to encourage people to try harder to get a 'raise' - 'work for each other' company value is used as a way to encourage staff to take on other people's work which is fine if occasionally but its quite frequent - high staff turnover - this can reduce continuity/rapport. This all means members of different teams are being shifted around a lot to cover gaps in workforce during re-hiring. Expect scope of job role to shift from initial job description. - offers options (not shares) as a company perk - lot of tasks for scientist role which is should fall into a technician's job. - feels as if you always have to be 'available' on slack
