Pros

There can be a lot of flexibility and there are some really good natured people who work there are committed to the mission of service.

Cons

While the pay is the biggest issue. In classic non-profit culture, their pay forces their employees (sans their C-suite of course) to have to work additional jobs in order to be able to afford to work there. There isn't true support for BIPOC individuals. Though the DEI team tries their best, the rest of the organization just pays lip service to allyship and advocacy. I experienced so many daily microaggressions (and macro) that tried to undermine my work and the parties responsible were never held accountable. White tears/ perceived distress will always trump the reality of the situation even if the white staff member (or client) has a track record of being unscrupulous. It was untenable for me to continue working there. To perspective employees of color, there is a reason why there is so few leaders of color there. If you need a job badly, then sure but if you have options, choose differently.
