Pros

You get to work hands on with children who have tremendous potential. You get paid sick days. There is a lot of teacher/staff appreciation in certain schools. If you need teaching bootcamp, this is the school district to be employed in. Working here will either build up your resilience or break your resolve.

Cons

I was staffed at a "hard to staff school". The average turnover for a staff member at this school is a year. Four teachers quit in the middle of the school year, this was during my first month working there. I was part of the teaching support staff and we were required to do a lot of duties outside of our job description that made me very uncomfortable, considering we did not have the credentials to do what they asked us to do. The APs were difficult to work with and the policies were constantly changing. Many staff members turned their back completely from the education field because of how bad things got. Don't work here if you don't like kids! We were often overworked and expected to do work outside of the workplace and be okay with not being paid for it. We didn't always get approved for overtime even though we often had to work overtime.
