Pros
Benefits, PTO and schedule flexibility are good and in line with typical Texas orgs
Cons
Poor workplace culture and environment (bullying, gossip, program conflict, judgement, poor people skills, burnout, favoritism, elitism, fear of or actual retaliation and ineffective HR). They are working to fix this and your experience may be different depending on your team. Limited stability and job security (layoffs). Limited resources. Heavier emphasis on bringing in money, not just doing mission-based work. Pay is high if you’re in management, for everyone else pay can lag behind fair market rate. Promotions and pay are very political and aren’t just based on doing a good job. Your job may change frequently depending on funding.
