Pros

It's an opportunity to help people by meeting them where they are. The prospect of giving hope and encouraging them to take one day at a time. Motivational interviewing assisted in helping clients to reach their goals. Keeping it real when it came to being a parent for their children was important in challenging them to become their best selves.

Cons

Some staff were not equipped to engage with clients. Staff with CASAC-T are not utilized and given a chance to develop and move to the next level. Not a team work environment. Too much favoritism.

Pros

There are some very talented and compassionate staff within the agency. They are taken for granted and not compensated for their true worth, but you can find some very dedicated professionals among the front line staff and middle management.

Cons

The pay is not comparable to other agencies in the area... or even most restaurants if you're coming in at entry level. Upper administration is good at expressing their availability to staff, but not good at genuinely supporting staff when there are concerns. Upper administration is running the agency based on numbers and money, and they're not doing a great job at that. When you do honest and compassionate work of good quality, the bottom line will show that. Appropriateness for clients admissions is often overlooked for the sake of census numbers. Not professional in that they have inappropriate discussions about staff in front of others that shouldn't be privy to sensitive information. Its like mean girls on an adult level- but not just with girls. There is very little work/life balance. Expectations of staff are not realistic. It's toxic. Unhealthy. Your good staff will and have burned out.
