Pros

Pros: serving the elderly, interacting with great caregivers and clients. Fairly regularly hours, with some flexibility based on the work volume.

Cons

As this is a franchise, I realize the office I was in may be different from every other HI in the world. That being said, my experience was truly awful. The in-fighting and gossiping were overwhelming from day one. The staff and owners have no respect for each other. The training I received seemed to be based on the mood of the other staffing coordinator and was very scattered and poorly handled. One day I'm told I'm doing a great job, the next day I'm told I'm not right for it - the only thing that changed in that time was the mood of the person critiquing me, not my performance, so that was very frustrating. Training was very inconsistent overall. The person who was training me would hoard work, not include me in day-to-day business, leave me out of the loop regarding important scheduling changes, and would then turn around and confront me about why I didn't have more of a handle on things (Hint: I can't read emails you exchange with others unless I'm cc'ed in, and I also cannot read your mind, so if you want your scheduling staff to "have a handle on things", you've got to include them in the process.)

Pros

Matched clients with same interests

Cons

Not good scheduling manager HR lied When they said $1 per mile when transporting clients, they did NOT reimburse at that rate Payroll/paystubs unclear to intentionally confuse caregivers CarePros who have been loyal to the company have been shat on with lower wages than new-hire employees. They allow clients to be racially biased and hateful towards their caregivers NO BENEFITS and things they advertise are not true! No real flexible schedule that they promote and promise in the job ads NO policy written for things that are unclear for example being on call phones are not provided and time is not paid for unless actively providing cares Management will tell lies to the families about why you don't want to be with a certain client every day of every week and will blame it on them being a difficult client when communicating to the family when in reality schedules and availability with classes does not align. Even with proper notice, the scheduling manager will have attitude and try to convince you that you are the one with the problem even though she does not care to take the time to fully understand each persons preferences or availabilities.
