Disappointed - Associate Holtzman Partners Employee Review

Pros

The firm has great market share in ATX for its size and a surprisingly solid reputation despite staff and managements’ inability to meet deadlines and constant blaming of clients for avoidable issues.

Cons

Senior staff and management spent more time deciding where to go for lunch than in planning or client meetings. Senior management (some) was not approachable or interested in addressing real issues with staff, jobs or client communication instead choosing to cast blame on individuals or the clients themselves. Senior management (some) did not seem as knowledgeable as they should be about the field or industries under audit. Certain staff members were extremely competitive with one another to the point of jeopardizing productivity on jobs. Complacency, gossip and back stabbing were rampant which was not conducive to building a team friendly environment. I voluntarily left my employment rather than choose to wait it out.

Pros

Everyone is happy to help on anything you need, great work/life balance, HP really worked with my school schedule, and the workplace culture is amazing here.

Cons

None that I can think of

Pros

Extremely flexible culture and very refreshing change from a big 4 firm. Very qualified and similar expertise to a big 4 but very different culturally. I have been here for over 3 years and never had to come into the office on a weekend to work and have never eaten dinner at my desk. The partners have significant interaction with everyone at the firm all the way down to the summer interns. The firm also does a great job rewarding employee's for working hard through year end bonuses, occasional spot bonuses and employee events such as happy hours, top golf outings, end of busy season party, etc. It is also extremely casual (jeans are acceptable in the office) and fairly flexible in terms of when you get your hours in. If you would prefer working long hours, being told when you have to get in and leave work, cubicles, working weekends or an overly serious work environment then this is not the firm for you or someone like you.

Cons

Occasional growing pains of parking or space issues due to significant growth. Definitely not a significant issues but can cause occasional frustration.
