Pros

I first joined Hivery in 2017 as a UX/UI intern (AIESEC Global Internship Program). In the past 3 years, I always came to work with a feeling of excitement. Here are a few reasons: (1) The design problems at Hivery are mostly complex and therefore it’s very satisfying if you could solve them well (2) Colleagues have interesting personalities. They know what they are doing and very supportive. I had a lot of fun spending time with them. (3) A place where I could be direct and honest about my thoughts and feelings. I cried in meetings with the management team several times because of some issues at work, it was great that they always listened and sought to understand. (4) A lot of flexibility and autonomy. By the time I left Hivery in Feb 2020, I had finished my Master’s degree and was planning to pursue higher study. I do not discount my hard work (and intelligence) but without the time spent in Hivery it would be much harder to achieve those things.

Cons

(1) Typical startup problems. You can google it. Personally I had a few but they were all sorted so it’s crucial to keep the communication open. Besides, the pros out-weighted the cons so to be honest I don’t remember much about the problems (sorry for not being helpful). (2) Need more “Changing the world” spirit. I think it would be great to see the impact I’m making via the work I’m doing, not only to the system users, to the business of the customers but also to the retail sector and our beautiful world. (3) Maybe some degrees of diversity in ideology.

Pros

Colleagues are great. Everyone is ready to help out, willing to teach and also learn from each other. Technology has great potential and the problems they set out to solve are really interesting and important.

Cons

Culture has taken a major hit over time. Layoffs are never fun. Mgmt decisions, as communicated, frequently feel reactionary and haphazard, rather than planned and calculated.
