Pros

Having worked in the industry for over 10 years and moved across from different Microsoft Dynamics consultancies and end users my yardstick for analysing any new consultancy before joining was as follows: - A culture of helping - this ran true during my time at Hitachi , we were always busy but there was always someone to help once you had done enough analysis of a problem on your own (which is instinctive to the culture) - Retention - In previous consultancies I had seen large churn of staff meaning projects and knowledge was lost combined with customers concerned that they would have to adapt to the new people. Some folks have been here for 10+ years and part of the bricks and mortar of the business, I myself had been there for just under 5 years (I had no real intention of staying so long) -Challenging projects that allow people to grow skill set wise - Relatively flat structure - past experiences had taught me that a lot of other companies sometimes value titles as someones value to the client and the company, at hitachi you can be a consultant and have to lead a piece of work - the attitude of the company is that titles don't really matter its what you bring to the table - Challenging work - there was no chance of plateauing - most people went from one challenging project to the other, this meant in a short space of time you can really refine your delivery and client management skill set meaning you would improve organically as a consultant as opposed to having to wait for the opportunities to descend on to you -Focus on what's best for the client - in the end of the day the teams are all focused on doing what's best for the clients needs, I have been on projects at other companies where I have felt that at times we were getting one up on a client and the consultants were the ones who had to break the news to the client when they didn't feel right about it. I never had the same feeling here - Balance - its definitely a work hard play hard culture, believe it or not - in comparison to other companies I do think there is more of a balance because at hitachi I would say it's give and take where as at other companies I sometimes felt they treated consultants more like resources (at times)

Cons

Every company has imperfections, Hitachi is no different but they are not big enough to be publicly discussed - they are however going through a huge growth spurt so captulating the pros I highlighted will be a challenge (as with any company which is rapidly growing)

Pros

Great culture... I got to work with a number of people that I have worked with in the past at another Hitachi company and thoroughly enjoyed the teams/practices I supported - great people. The company and leadership walk the talk as it relates the "care and feeding" of their employees around mental health, work life balance, diverse representation with multiple Employee Resource Groups, visibility in communication, etc.

Cons

Unfortunately, when I started at Hitachi Solutions in December of 2022 it was right before the massive layoffs in tech companies in the US which continued into 2024. Initially there was some concern I believe about amount of communication related to the "state of the union" so to speak (because everyone was spinning at this point) but the company leadership pivoted quickly to engage with all employees on a monthly basis providing the opportunity for any and all questions from all employees. In the end I was caught up in a recent lay off, which was tough for me as it's never happened to me before, but I get it... it's business/not personal. Maybe a 3rd time at Hitachi will be the charm... ya never know!

Pros

Flexible work schedule; remote employment

Cons

Lots of layoffs - very unstable job security; poor leadership drove a very stable company almost into the ground
