Pros

High employee turnover makes a good place to meet new people and network

Cons

1. Poor company outlook - Hikvision products are allegedly involved in human rights abuse and is currently heavily sanctioned by the US governmet; no new products are allowed to register for sale 2. Rampant sexual harassment against female employees during work and company events that goes unaddressed 3. Racial and sexual discrimination by management - the task/projects you are assigned and the respect that you are given at work largely depends on your race and sex rather than your performance and ability 4. Poor management and planning leading to shifting project directions, often resulting in projects being postponed indefinitely 5. Toxic managerial styles - several managers in multiple departments tend to exert their authorities by yelling profanities and practice the "putting you down" technique at work and in meetings 6. Non-collaborative environment and toxic coworkers - coworkers like to snitch on each other for their own benefits and attempt to take credit for each other's work 7. Minimal and restricted career opportunities - headcounts and promotions are solely decided by headquarter in China based on metrics unrelated to your performance 8. Low emphasis on building positive company culture - teambuilding funding is the first to go during budget cuts 9. Inflexibility with hours and remote work privileges - as a surveillance company, the building is equipped with cameras and management and HR will often pull records to confirm the time you arrive and leave office even for salary employees that are often required to put in time outside of work hours (no overtime) 10. Incompetent HR department - although the benefits may sound good on paper, navigating through the incompetency and high turnover at the HR department makes it difficult to receive and ensure the benefits you are promised

Pros

The team members were supportive and willing to answer technical questions, which helped me quickly understand the project structure and engineering practices. I also learned a lot about integrating machine learning models into real production environments.

Cons

I did not encounter any major issues during my internship. Most of the challenges were related to learning new systems and technologies, which was part of the learning process.

Pros

As a multinational company, Hikvision offers great exposure to well-established professional processes and the opportunity to work alongside talented colleagues from diverse backgrounds. Employees also get the chance to take ownership of important, high-impact projects, which is valuable for career development

Cons

The North America business has been in decline, which creates uncertainty around growth opportunities and team stability. Compensation is also not competitive compared to industry standards in the region, making it harder to retain top talent
