Ethically and morally corrupt (top heavy) management - Anonymous employee Highland Homes Employee Review

Pros

Health insurance; company lunches on big holidays

Cons

Where do I begin? Heavily political and bureaucratic. Management does not know how to manage employees. Some are made managers (regardless of not having any management experience) just due to connections of other higher ups. Very outdated IT systems. This is not the place to be if you are in IT and want to actually learn and grow. You will be forced to learn their antiquated systems. Gossipy, bullying, and hypocritical culture. Morale is very low as well. Management acts like they are better than everyone else and will throw you under the bus for anything and everything. Also not the place to chase titles (you are either an employee, manager, vp, or c-level). Lastly, the corporate office is terrible (for a home building company, the entire office floor plan seems like it was designed by an amateur architect).

Pros

You have long weekends due to only working 3 days a week.

Cons

They will force you to resign while on parental leave. The sales associates will pass on their work to you and refuse to promote. Or you will be left with absolutely no work at all. You will not get a raise or promotion unless you work in your position for years. Expect to make sales and get zero recognition. A horrible company, I am profoundly disappointed.
