Pros

The research being done is fantastic and the mission is great Some very kind and intelligent people

Cons

Strange dynamic where everything has to be approved by one of the co-founders, leading to bottlenecks and delays. These delays are ultimately blamed on employees and the micromanagement is demotivating. Workflow and processes are chaotic and unclear. The financial management is questionable. The company over-hired and then let people go with 1 weeks notice. This was handled terribly, with absolutely no consideration given to people's mental and financial wellbeing. Hiring managers are not upfront and honest about the company's circumstances when hiring - take any promises and claims with a big pinch of salt! Employees are openly criticised by co-founders and some more senior members. I witnessed calls where people were berated in a really unprofessional manner. Some (mainly senior) members of the team take pride in communicating quite rudely, and it's common for people to be really late for meetings. Needless to say psychological safety is non- existent. This high-stress approach is passed off as being rooted in passion for the mission, and to an extent I'm sure it is, but a mission-driven company is not worth it's salt if people are not treated with basic respect. I really hope that junior employees or those for who this might be their first corporate role realise this is not normal.

Pros

My recruitment process was very clear from start to finish. From the LinkedIn ad of the job to the job offer and the onboarding, it was a really refreshing experience. The interview process was explained to me clearly and I had enough time to prepare but also enough information to feel equipped for the interviews. Everybody involved in the process was really approachable and helpful with any questions I had. Once I had the job offer, Hertility were supportive from start to finish and each week I was kept in the loop about my onboarding and anything I needed to do before I started work. Hertility was also very accommodating about some flexible working options. I felt supported from the beginning. I was given lots of information when I joined about the company, the role etc., was allocated a buddy and have had catch ups with most of the people in the team - who all made an effort to make me feel welcome and to get to know me. This is crucial in a remote-working environment. I have just come from a company with virtually zero culture and whilst I am still fairly new to the role here I can tell that the culture embedded from the very top is amazing.

Cons

Honestly, from a recruitment process perspective, I really can't fault Hertility.

Thank you so much for sharing this. It really means a lot to us. We put a lot of care into the recruitment process and how we welcome new people to Hertility, so hearing that you felt supported prepared and genuinely welcomed from day one is incredibly rewarding. Building a culture where people feel seen heard and cared for, especially in a remote setting, is something we’re very intentional about. We’re so glad you’re part of the team and we’re excited to keep growing together 🌱

Pros

Hertility is a genuinely mission-driven company where the work feels meaningful and impactful, which creates a strong sense of purpose day to day. The teams are full of talented, passionate people who care deeply about what they do, and everyone is incredibly determined, knowledgeable and always willing to help when needed. The fast-paced environment means you learn quickly and gain exposure to responsibilities you wouldn’t typically get in a larger organisation. There is good flexibility, supportive leadership, and the excitement of working on innovative projects across SaMD, AI, and new product development.

Cons

As with any scaling start-up, Hertility is still building out many of its processes, which can sometimes create ambiguity, duplicated effort, or situations where you need to figure things out independently. Resource constraints can make workloads feel heavy, and communication varies across teams while cross-functional alignment continues to develop. Deadlines can also be very tight, and at times it can feel like you’re constantly chasing your tail to keep up with the pace and volume of work. The rapid pace of change can feel intense if you prefer very structured or stable environments. However, these challenges are typical of a company transitioning from start-up to scale-up and improvements are ongoing.
