Pros

HeartFlow offers a complex solution to a complex problem. The product is quite good. It gives me a better sense of purpose than other companies I have been with. Great gym and flexible office hours (most managers I know do not micromanage).

Cons

Mostly talking for technology here, but there are absolutely no leadership principles. Many decisions seem to be done ad-hoc and end up being a surprise for the rest of the company. The extent of politics and cronyism is beyond anything I have seen in my previous companies. The top level identifies a few that they repeatedly promote, and invite for important discussions even outside their expertise. It was so terrible that they choose the same person to lead three very different teams, saying that no one else in the technology team can take up this role. Only the most aggressive people are given opportunities, and this has started to emerge as a theme. There is no room for personal growth for most of the people in the company. In one of the most cruel displays of hierarchy and power, a group of people in the technology leadership team sat behind closed doors, week after week with their calendars marked busy, to decide which individual contributors to let go. And people were told that a layoff was coming. The same “leaders” who decided to open a branch in London were choosing which individual contributors to fire because it ended up being a terrible decision incurring a big loss and had to be shut down in a year.

Cutting edge technology. Good team and product. Customers are very excited about the future.

Cons

The pressure is unreal, leadership has been working hard for people to come in to the office. Forcing relocations. Creating a very stressful atmosphere.
