This might be the worst smelling office in London - IT Consultant Hearst Employee Review

Pros

Some kind hearted people in and amongst the rubble that have learn't to keep quiet and not 'rock the boat' so to speak, stick with them and learn their ways if you plan on staying. If you are willing to become a subservient door mat, you could definitely make it into some sort of low ranked coordination role above your current post.

Cons

In only my first week it was apparent that these kind hearted people had been rounded up into an island and were being slowly circled by the sharks of upper management trying to sniff out their exact value. In speaking to other departments, I found other employees were miserable, unable to climb the ladder due to age old nepotism, this was admitted on several occasions. Absolutely no outside of work activities, if you're the social type, I would avoid this place like the plague, unless you enjoy binge drinking to oblivion over the poor life choices you've made to get to end up here (in which case, you'll fit in here just fine!) Those who leave or sneak out of the office at 16:00-16:30 are promoted and given merit, not only did I see this happen during my contract, but heard complaints from friends that it is still standard practice in the department. This is born out of old fashioned reluctance to develop the department and share the skills so that not just a singular person knows how to do something. The office in soho is filled with the most repugnant stench of old food, feet and mould (of which I can assure you, there is plenty) - It's so strong, you can taste it. To compare it to the smell of an adolescent teen bedroom would be too much of a compliment.

Pros

I love working at Hearst in the Baltimore, Maryland market. I have worked for many radio stations over the past nearly 40 years and this is one of the best companies as far as working environment. I really feel cared for here.

Cons

On a personal level, I've had a hard time getting full time employment within the company, which is discouraging. Also, it takes forever for management to make hiring decisions.
