Pros
Great sales leaders! Other agents are very willing to help you with anything you need! You can work from home and make your own hours (this is also a con). Never any need to pay for leads... many ways to "win" lead money. Preset appointments are available. You can travel as far as you want for appointments, or stay in your city. Some agents even do all of their appointments over the phone (except for medicare). Very lucrative job if you know how to sell... can make $700+ off of one 2 hour appointment.
Cons
You make your own schedule and the position is 100% commission so if you don't work, you don't make money. The weekly team sales meetings are rather long and boring. Sales leaders are also agents themselves so you may not get much training if you begin working in the busy season. Some of the leads and live transfers don't turn into much, but that's not exactly the company's fault. The health insurance industry is not an ideal industry to be in ever since Obamacare. Major carriers do not pay commission on health plans -- money is made from selling supplemental plans, life insurance, and short term insurance. Company does not pay for licensing or required courses -- lots of money up front.
